The 10-minute renewal call that saves $300 a year
By Zorpath Editorial Team

Insurance renewal notices are written to be glanced at and paid. But premiums that rise 'for market reasons' almost always have room to move — you just have to ask in the right order. This is the checklist we run on every customer renewal.
Before you dial (3 minutes)
- Pull your current declarations page: premium, deductibles, coverage limits.
- Get one competing quote online — a real number, not an estimate. This is your leverage.
- Note anything that changed: mileage dropped, new roof, paid-off car loan, home security added.
On the call (7 minutes)
- Ask directly: 'What discounts am I not currently receiving?' New discounts appear between renewals and are rarely applied automatically.
- Mention the competing quote by number. 'Carrier X quoted me $1,240 for the same limits' moves the conversation instantly.
- Ask about re-rating: mileage changes and credit improvements can trigger a lower tier mid-term, not just at renewal.
- If they can't move, ask for the retention department explicitly. Front-line agents have a smaller discount envelope.
Or skip the call entirely
Renewal calls are a core part of what Zorpath does after your first signup. We track your policy dates, pull competing quotes before your renewal lands, and run this exact conversation on your behalf. Ten minutes of our time, $200–400 a year back in your pocket.
